Guidelines for a Disciplined and Conducive Learning Environment

📖 School Code of Conduct

Ingraham English Medium School believes in maintaining a disciplined, respectful, and safe environment for all students. The following rules and regulations are designed to ensure the well-being and academic success of every student while fostering responsibility and integrity.

📋 Attendance & Punctuality

Punctuality Requirements

  • ✓ Punctuality on all occasions is mandatory
  • ✓ Students must reach school five minutes before the scheduled time
  • ✓ The school day begins with assembly
  • ✓ Late arrivals will be recorded and reported to parents

Attendance Policy

  • ✓ During academic session, 75% attendance is compulsory
  • ✓ Any student absent for more than 15 days without prior permission will be struck off the attendance register
  • ✓ In case of re-admission, the admission fee will be charged
  • ✓ Medical certificates required for extended absences

Leave Policy

  • ✓ To avail leave, students must submit a written application addressed to the Principal
  • ✓ Application must be duty signed by a parent/guardian
  • ✓ In case of medical leave, a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner must be attached
  • ✓ No leave is permitted during exam periods

👕 Uniform & Discipline Standards

Prescribed Uniform

  • ✓ Wearing the prescribed school uniform and house uniform is compulsory for all students
  • ✓ Parents should ensure that uniforms are clean, well-washed, and neatly ironed
  • ✓ Every student must carry the school diary daily
  • ✓ School diary is mandatory and must be carried at all times

Discipline & Decorum

  • ✓ As the school imparts education to both boys and girls, students are expected to maintain a high standard of discipline and decorum
  • ✓ Students must maintain respect and decorum according to societal norms
  • ✓ Use of vulgar or abusive language will invite strict disciplinary action
  • ✓ Students should refrain from speaking loudly, shouting, whistling, or yelling on school premises

Prohibited Activities

  • ✓ Collection of money for any purpose is strictly prohibited
  • ✓ Any student found bursting crackers will be removed from the school
  • ✓ Students found sprinkling colours on fellow students, walls, or furniture will be punished and fined
  • ✓ Vandalizing school property will result in punishment and fines

🎓 Academic Conduct & Language Requirements

Language Policy

  • ✓ All students must speak in English while on the school campus
  • ✓ Students must use appropriate language in all interactions
  • ✓ Speaking in other languages on campus is not permitted
  • ✓ Violations will result in disciplinary action

Academic Honesty

  • ✓ Any student found cheating during Unit Tests, Half-Yearly Exams, Final Exams, Pre-Board, or Board Exams will be removed from the school
  • ✓ All work must be your own and original
  • ✓ Plagiarism and copying are strictly prohibited
  • ✓ Academic dishonesty results in severe consequences

School Property Care

  • ✓ Students must observe silence in verandas, corridors, and the library
  • ✓ Running, playing, or shouting inside the school building is not permitted
  • ✓ Students found damaging any furniture or fixture within the school campus will be fined
  • ✓ The school will not be responsible for the loss of any valuable items

Expected Conduct

  • ✓ Any student found violating the laid-down rules and the code of conduct will be liable to punishment, suspension, or termination from the school
  • ✓ Students must maintain respect for all members of the school community
  • ✓ Discipline and decorum must be maintained at all times
  • ✓ A girl student will be sent home only with her parent or guardian
  • ✓ Parents and guardians are not permitted to enter classrooms to meet their children or seek unscheduled interviews during school hours

Dangerous Items & Weapons

  • ✗ Any student found carrying sharp-edged instruments, knives, or firearms will be punished with suspension or termination
  • ✗ Polyglots are strictly prohibited on the school premises
  • ✗ Students must not damage any furniture or fixtures within the school campus
  • ✗ Vandalism of school property will result in fines and disciplinary action
  • ✗ Strangers are not allowed to meet students

Food & Campus Rules

  • ✓ Students must bring their daily requirements and stiff items from home
  • ✓ No food items will be accepted at the reception or school gates
  • ✓ Students should observe proper conduct and etiquette in the campus
  • ✓ Wearing heavy Kada is allowed with permission from the class teacher, provided it does not pose a risk
  • ✓ All students must follow school discipline and regulations strictly

📱 Technology & Prohibited Devices

Mobile & Electronic Devices

Carrying mobile phones, CDs, e-games, and pen drives is not permitted in school. Students found with these items will have them confiscated. Repeated violations will result in disciplinary action and parental notification.

Classroom Technology Use

All technology use in classrooms must be for educational purposes only under teacher supervision. Unauthorized use of school computers or equipment is strictly prohibited. Misuse of technology will result in disciplinary measures.

Digital Responsibility

Students must use school resources responsibly and ethically. Accessing inappropriate content, gaming, or social media on school devices is not allowed. Violating digital conduct rules will result in suspension or termination.

🛡️ Safety & Security Regulations

Restrictions & Access Control

A girl student will be sent home only with her parent or guardian. Parents and guardians are not permitted to enter classrooms to meet their children or seek unscheduled interviews with teachers during school hours. Strangers are not allowed to meet students at any time.

Campus Conduct & Movement

Students must observe silence in verandas, corridors, and the library. Running, playing, or shouting inside the school building is not permitted. Students should maintain proper conduct in all areas of the campus and follow designated routes.

Property Damage & Responsibility

Students found damaging any furniture or fixture within the school campus will be fined accordingly. The school will not be responsible for the loss of any valuable items such as ornaments, watches, mobile phones, pens, or calculators. Students should keep their belongings secure.

Dangerous Items & Weapons

Any student found carrying sharp-edged instruments, knives, or firearms will be punished with suspension or termination. Polyglots, crackers, and any weapons are strictly prohibited on the school premises. Possession of such items may result in legal action.

📝 Examination Rules & Academic Honesty

Exam Conduct Requirements

  • ✓ Any student found cheating during Unit Tests, Half-Yearly Exams, Final Exams, Pre-Board, or Board Exams will be removed from the school
  • ✓ Students must arrive on time for all examinations
  • ✓ All work must be your own and original
  • ✓ Follow all invigilator instructions strictly
  • ✓ Maintain complete silence during exams

Prohibited During Exams

  • ✗ No copying from other students
  • ✗ No use of unauthorized materials
  • ✗ No talking or communication with others
  • ✗ No mobile phones or electronic devices
  • ✗ No leaving seat without permission

Academic Honesty & Integrity

  • ✓ All submissions must be original work
  • ✓ Plagiarism in assignments is strictly prohibited
  • ✓ Cite sources properly when using external material
  • ✓ Violations of academic honesty will result in zero marks
  • ✓ Serious violations may lead to expulsion from school
