Rules & Regulations

Guidelines for a disciplined and conducive learning environment — applicable to every student of Ingraham English Medium School.

01 — Overview

School Code of Conduct

Ingraham English Medium School believes in maintaining a disciplined, respectful, and safe environment for all students. The following rules and regulations are designed to ensure the well-being and academic success of every student while fostering responsibility and integrity.

Most Important Rules & Regulations

For a School — the core clauses every student and parent should know by heart.

General Rules

    Attendance and Punctuality. Regular attendance and punctuality are expected from all students.

    Respect for Teachers and Staff. Students must show respect and courtesy to teachers, staff, and peers.
  3. 3
    No Bullying or Harassment. Bullying, harassment, or any form of intimidation is strictly prohibited.
  4. 4
    No Mobile Phones in Class. Mobile phones are not permitted for students.

Safety and Security Rules

    Emergency Evacuation Procedures. Students must familiarise themselves with emergency evacuation procedures and take part in regular drills.

    Fire Safety. Students must not tamper with fire alarms, extinguishers, or other safety equipment.

    First Aid. Any injury or illness must be reported to the school nurse or administration.
  4. 4
    Visitor Policy. Visitors must sign in and out, and wear a visitor's tag while on school premises.

Academic Rules

  1. 1
    Academic Integrity. Plagiarism, cheating, or any form of academic dishonesty is strictly prohibited.

    Submission of Assignments. Assignments must be submitted on time; late submissions may incur penalties.
  3. 3
    Examination Rules. Students must adhere to examination rules, including no talking, no mobile phones, and no unauthorised materials.

    Grade Appeal. Students may appeal their grades, but must do so within a specified timeframe.

Other Regulations

    Dress Code. Students must adhere to the school's dress code policy at all times.

    Food and Drink. Food and drink may only be consumed in designated areas and during break.

    Parking and Transportation. Students must follow all parking and transportation rules; parking is available only to students holding a valid driving licence.

    School Property. Students must respect and care for school property, including buildings, furniture, and equipment.

  Verbal Warning

Issued for minor infractions, as a first point of correction.

  Suspension

Imposed for serious offences, including bullying, harassment, or substance abuse.

  Expulsion

Considered for extreme cases, including violent behaviour or repeated serious offences.

03 — Attendance

Attendance & Punctuality

Punctuality Requirements

  • Punctuality on all occasions is mandatory.
  • Students must reach school five minutes before the scheduled time.
  • The school day begins with assembly.
  • Late arrivals will be recorded and reported to parents.

Attendance Policy

  • During the academic session, 75% attendance is compulsory.
  • Any student absent for more than 15 days without prior permission will be struck off the attendance register.
  • In case of re-admission, the admission fee will be charged.
  • Medical certificates are required for extended absences.

Leave Policy

  • To avail leave, students must submit a written application addressed to the Principal.
  • The application must be duly signed by a parent or guardian.
  • For medical leave, a certificate from a registered medical practitioner must be attached.
  • No leave is permitted during examination periods.

Uniform & Discipline Standards

Prescribed Uniform

  • Wearing the prescribed school uniform and house uniform is compulsory for all students.
  • Uniforms should be clean, well-washed, and neatly ironed at all times.
  • Every student must carry the school diary daily.
  • The school diary is mandatory and must be carried at all times.

Discipline, Decorum & Misbehaviour

  • Constantly interrupting the teaching process or indulging in rude and unacceptable behaviour in class or on school premises.
  • Writing or scribbling on uniform, buildings, or other school property.
  • Bullying others, name-calling, or spreading rumours.
  • Use of foul language, improper uniform, absenteeism, or late coming.
  • Loitering on campus or unauthorised use of iPods, cell phones, and similar devices.

Any such misbehaviour will be dealt with strictly as per school rules.

Prohibited Activities

  • Collection of money for any purpose is strictly prohibited.
  • Any student found bursting crackers will be removed from the school.
  • Students found sprinkling colours on fellow students, walls, or furniture will be punished and fined.
  • Vandalising school property will result in punishment and fines.
05 — Conduct

Academic Conduct & Language Requirements

Language Policy

  • All students must speak in English while on the school campus.
  • Students must use appropriate language in all interactions.
  • Speaking in other languages on campus is not permitted.
  • Violations will result in disciplinary action.

Academic Honesty

  • Any student found cheating during Unit Tests, Half-Yearly, Final, Pre-Board, or Board Exams will be removed from the school.
  • All submitted work must be original and the student's own.
  • Plagiarism and copying are strictly prohibited.
  • Academic dishonesty results in severe consequences.

School Property Care

  • Students are expected to respect and maintain school property at all times.
  • Damaging school furniture, writing on anything, or damaging belongings of others is strictly prohibited.
  • Any property damaged — even accidentally — must be reported at once to the Principal, Class Teacher, or Discipline Committee.
06 — Digital Conduct

Cyber Rules & Technology Use

Official cyber-safety guidelines issued by the school for safe, respectful, and responsible internet use.

Online Safety & Privacy

    Use of social media using school computers or the internet is strictly prohibited.
  2. 2
    Protect your privacy by refraining from sharing too much personal information on the internet. Be cautious about revealing details like your full name, address, or phone number.
  3. 3
    Be mindful of what you post on social media platforms outside school, especially images. Adjust your privacy settings to control who can see your content.
  4. 4
    Don't believe everything you read online. Verify information from reliable sources before accepting it as true.

Respectful Online Conduct

    Treat others online with kindness and respect. Avoid engaging in cyberbullying or using offensive language, inside or outside school.
  2. 6
    If you witness or experience cyberbullying, take action. Report it to a trusted adult or school authority.
  3. 7
    Encourage kindness, empathy, and positive interactions among your peers online.

Rule 8 — Parental Responsibility & Consequences

Parents are requested to stay mindful of what their ward is posting on social media. Any complaint against a student's online conduct will invite strict action, such as suspension or even expulsion from the school.

07 — Protection

Safety & Security Regulations

Restrictions & Access Control

A girl student will be sent home only with a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians may not enter classrooms or seek unscheduled interviews during school hours, and strangers are not permitted to meet students at any time.

Campus Conduct & Movement

Students must observe silence in verandas, corridors, and the library. Running, playing, or shouting inside the school building is not permitted; all students should follow designated routes on campus.

Property Damage & Responsibility

Students found damaging furniture or fixtures will be fined accordingly. The school is not responsible for the loss of valuables such as ornaments, watches, mobile phones, pens, or calculators — students should keep belongings secure.

Dangerous Items & Weapons

Carrying sharp-edged instruments, knives, or firearms will result in suspension or termination. Crackers and weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited and may invite legal action.

Examination Rules & Academic Honesty

Exam Conduct Requirements

  • Cheating in any Unit Test, Half-Yearly, Final, Pre-Board, or Board Exam leads to removal from school.
  • Students must arrive on time for all examinations.
  • All work submitted must be original.
  • Invigilator instructions must be followed strictly.
  • Complete silence must be maintained throughout the exam.

Prohibited During Exams

  • Copying from other students.
  • Use of unauthorised materials.
  • Talking or communicating with others.
  • Mobile phones or electronic devices.
  • Leaving your seat without permission.

Academic Honesty & Integrity

  • All submissions must be original work.
  • Plagiarism in assignments is strictly prohibited.
  • Sources must be cited properly when using external material.
  • Violations of academic honesty will result in zero marks.
  • Serious violations may lead to expulsion from school.
